summer shorts under $40

I love a good pair of shorts -- and I own quite a few of them, in different colors, lengths and rises. Last week, I got a message on Instagram requesting a post about my top picks for the summer, and I loved the idea!

I did a poll, asking what price points people would want to shop, and shorts under $40 won by a landslide! So here it goes -- these are the styles I'm loving this summer. There's a little something for everyone, ranging in prices, colors and brands. I am linking each title and image, and also including the price of each (because nothing's worse than falling in love with something in a blog post, only to be durected to... a dress that's $140??? Ya, no, I couldn't do that to you.)

Keep in mind, some of these finds are from factory stores, or currently on sale, so there's a chance some styles will sell out in the coming weeks - but all of this is current as of TODAY!

These are one of my favorite finds -- I am loving the tie belt trend this season, and I am also loving all things cotton and striped, so these were basically made for me (and anyone else looking for a comfy cute pair of shorts for the summer).

I own these in the darker wash and I love them! They are the perfect length for me and the cuff detail is cute and classic.

I also own these, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get when I wear them! They're made with a thicker fabric with little wood buttons on either side. I love pairing them with a white tank and taupe sweater for a more preppy look.

These eyelet shorts scream long summer days riding bikes along the boardwalk, or you know, barbecuing on your sun-drenched patio in the Hamptons.

Most of my shorts are a bit longer, but a girl needs some cut-offs for the occasional country concert or trip to the beach! I own a very similar pair from Forever 21 and love throwing them over my swimmy during this time of year.

Got these during A&F's Memorial Day sale in 'light chambray' and 'cream', and they have quickly become a staple in my summer wardrobe. They go with everything, and are so soft, I hardly care to change into my PJs after dinner.

Riviera Shorts in Coral Blush - (ON SALE $25)

I love a structured short with a hidden closure. Looks so polished - no matter what top you pair it with. This 'coral blush' color is giving me all the heart-eyes, but they have tons of other colors to choose from!
